ASU Faculty / Academic Professional ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct interviews of low-income Mexican-American mothers of newborn infants. Speak, read and interpret instructions, questions and responses in both Spanish and English. Gather social, biological and psychological information from new mothers. Organize data and provide feedback to project staff. Maintain confidentiality and security of data. Use computer. Travel locally using reliable transportation. Lift and carry up to 15 lbs.

REQUIRED: Two years of experience in, interviewing, public relations, sales, and school or community programs. Effective communications skills. Evidence of strong organizational skills. Evidence of bilingual Spanish/English written and verbal communication skills. Experience using desktop or laptop computer. Must be able to work morning hours on both weekdays and weekends.

DESIRED Bachelor’s degree in social Science or related field. Previous interviewing experience. Demonstrated ability to initiate contact and develop rapport with general public.

Most interviews for this project will be done in Spanish. Part-time cyclical work. Paid for all work, including travel time and mileage (if driving and using personal vehicle). Will include local travel. Will work evening and weekend hours, approximately 15-19 hours per/wk. Pay is $15.00 per hour. Interviewers must have the ability to maintain security and confidentiality of data. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures manuals and work instructions. Other related duties as assigned. This is position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a background and fingerprint check prior to employment.
